Iranian media: Country's president recently met with the Supreme Leader - Sarmad

(Royters) – Iranian state media reported on Sunday that President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in late July, marking the beginning of his third year in office, while one commander of the Basij forces pledged to release footage of Khamenei in the future.

Pezeshkian has made conflicting remarks in recent weeks regarding his ability to meet with Khamenei, who has not appeared publicly since succeeding his late father to the position in March.

On July 21, the president stated that his interactions with the Supreme Leader “are increasing day by day,” but he noted in early August that communication with Khamenei was “extremely difficult.”

State media reported that the late-July meeting addressed military and economic issues, such as securing resources, managing foreign exchange, and energy utilization, as well as economic relations with foreign partners.

In May, state media also reported that Pezeshkian met with Khamenei for several hours, which was then the first publicly announced meeting between the two since Khamenei assumed the role of Supreme Leader.

Reports indicate that Khamenei sustained serious injuries in an attack on February 28 that claimed the life of his father, Ali Khamenei, on the first day of the US-Israeli war against Iran. He had generally avoided public appearances before becoming Supreme Leader.

Qasem Qorashi, deputy commander of the Basij forces, said on Sunday that video footage and other documents showing Khamenei among the public and on the streets, as well as during meetings with military commanders, would be released in the future.

Qorashi added that this footage would “bring shame again to the enemies of the Iranian people and its critics.” His comments appeared aimed at countering speculation about Khamenei’s health and his lack of public appearances.
