Interior Minister: Continue developing maritime centers and facilities and enhancing their readiness - Sarmad

The Ministry of Interior stated that the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, conducted a field tour covering several islands and maritime centers to review operational progress, assess readiness levels, and monitor measures taken to enhance the security and safety of maritime borders. He was received by the Director General of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, Brigadier General (Naval) Sheikh Mubarak Al-Sabah.

Sheikh Fahad began his tour with a visit to the Umm Al-Maradim Island border crossing, where he inspected facilities of the General Directorate of Coast Guard, the General Directorate of Border Crossings, and the General Directorate of Customs. He reviewed work procedures and coordination among agencies operating at the crossing, emphasizing the importance of integrating efforts and enhancing coordination to ensure efficiency at maritime border points.

He also visited Qaruh Island, where he reviewed ongoing construction work, directing that projects be completed promptly in accordance with approved schedules, and that facilities be upgraded and working and living conditions improved for staff, thereby providing them with the necessary resources to perform their duties efficiently.

The tour included Kubbar Island, where he inspected the security situation and the procedures implemented to secure the island, and listened to briefings on the nature of field operations and their execution methods. He commended the efforts of Coast Guard personnel and their role in protecting maritime borders and ensuring the safety of sea users.

During the tour, Sheikh Fahad met with several citizens and sea users, listening to their opinions and feedback regarding the services provided. He stressed the importance of direct communication with them and utilizing their suggestions to develop services and improve performance standards.

He directed the continued development of maritime centers and facilities, enhancing their readiness and providing all necessary resources for their staff. He also emphasized strengthening coordination and integration among agencies operating at border crossings and islands, thereby supporting the capacity of relevant authorities to perform their duties efficiently and safeguard the security and safety of maritime borders.
