Iran's Foreign Minister: We are nearing an agreement with Oman on a new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz - Sarmad

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran and the Sultanate of Oman are very close to reaching an agreement on the management of the Strait of Hormuz.

He added, “We are nearing an agreement with Oman on a new shipping route in the Hormuz Strait,” emphasizing that the temporary transit corridor in the Strait of Hormuz will serve as the foundation for the main route.

He clarified that the previous traffic plan for the Strait of Hormuz is no longer acceptable to Iran, and a new route is needed.

He stressed that the reopening of the strait depends on other conditions, such as compensation for U.S. violations of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
