Reuters: US expects a deal on the Strait of Hormuz soon - Sarmad

A U.S. official said that progress made between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman could soon lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, potentially allowing the resumption of oil exports disrupted by the five-month-old U.S. war on Iran, according to Reuters.

The U.S. official, who requested anonymity, said Washington expects an agreement to be reached soon between the two countries situated on either side of the strait, which would allow for the resumption of normal oil traffic.

A U.S. official told Reuters that progress was being made between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz, adding, “We expect an agreement to be reached soon.”

The official added that the United States would lift its blockade on Iranian ports immediately upon the announcement of an agreement to restore unhindered commercial shipping.
