Thailand: Student opens fire at school, killing 7 and injuring 15 - Sarmad

Seven people were killed and 15 students were injured in a shooting incident at a school north of the Thai capital on Friday, according to Thai security sources.

Trairong Viwong, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Police, said seven people were killed in the shooting at a school north of Bangkok, including the attacker, and 15 others were injured.

Thai Deputy Interior Minister Polabhi Suwanchai clarified that two students and two teachers were killed in the attack, which took place at a secondary school in Nonthaburi province. He noted that the students’ injuries were not caused by direct gunfire but occurred while they were trying to flee the scene, according to Agence France-Presse.

Local media reports, citing authorities, stated that the shooter was a boy who studied at the same school, adding that he also died.

Reports on the cause of his death were conflicting; some indicated that police shot and killed him, while others reported that he committed suicide.

Police stated that the attacker was a student who had shot and killed his grandparents at their home earlier in the day before heading to the school and opening fire inside.
