Germany: Corporate bankruptcies remain at record levels - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Results of a study released today by the Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Germany showed that corporate bankruptcies in the country remain at record levels.

According to the study, which the institute presented to journalists, 1,688 companies filed for bankruptcy in July, a slight decrease of 1 percent compared to June. However, the number remains 7 percent higher than in July 2025.

The institute stated that the economic crisis has drained the reserves of many small businesses, adding that the exit of weak firms from the market continues unabated, and a large number of bankruptcies are expected in the coming months as well.

The services sector led the list of bankrupt companies, alongside financial and insurance services, while the hotel and restaurant sector recorded fewer bankruptcies than usual.
