European Union confirms no movement of migrants from Ceuta to mainland Spain - Sarmad

(QNA) – The European Union confirmed on Thursday that there have been no illegal movements of migrants from Ceuta to mainland Spain, following the arrival of more than 60,000 people in the area last week.

In a statement, the EU noted that Spanish authorities have successfully prevented illegal movements toward mainland Spain and Europe so far, and that no illegal movements of migrants to mainland Spain have occurred.

For her part, the European Commission stated that the transfer of irregular migrants from the Ceuta crisis to mainland Spain has now been prevented.

Meanwhile, Juan Jesús Vivas, the governor of Ceuta, revealed during a European Parliament meeting that approximately 100 people were killed during the massive influx of migrants crossing the border, noting that between 3,000 and 5,000 people remain in Ceuta so far.

Spain had confirmed a few days ago that it had contained the massive influx of migrants to Ceuta, whose number exceeded 60,000, adding that the majority of them have begun voluntary returns to Moroccan territory.
