Minister of Social Affairs: Unified digital platform for the cooperation sector to enhance governance and digital transformation - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailan, Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Childhood, affirmed on Wednesday the importance of establishing a unified digital platform for the cooperative sector, in line with the implementation of the new regulations governing cooperative work and to support the ministry’s efforts in digital transformation and the development of the operational system.

Minister Al-Huwailan stated in a press statement following her meeting with officials from the Gulf University to discuss the initial concept for the platform that the meeting reviewed a draft cooperation protocol between the ministry and the university, aiming to strengthen the partnership between both parties and leverage the university’s academic and technical expertise to serve society.

She added that the initial stages of the platform’s design were presented. The platform will unify services and procedures related to the cooperative sector and link relevant departments overseeing cooperative societies within an integrated electronic system, thereby accelerating procedures, enhancing performance efficiency, and strengthening governance and oversight.

She clarified that the platform will include services such as the electronic management of contracts, practices, tenders, and quotation requests, in addition to administrative and financial affairs services, warehouse management, recruitment and nomination requests to develop cooperative societies’ operations, and the automation of their procedures.

She noted that the unified digital platform represents a qualitative leap in the development of the cooperative sector and will provide an integrated electronic environment that enhances transparency, improves service efficiency, and aligns with the state’s digital transformation agenda, thereby serving cooperative societies, their members, and consumers.
