UN Commissioner: 56 executed in Iran since last March - Sarmad

UN Human Rights Commissioner Volker Türk said on Wednesday that at least 56 people have been executed in Iran on charges related to national security since March 19, including 27 individuals in cases linked to the protests that erupted earlier this year.

In a statement, Türk said, “I am deeply horrified by the escalating pace of executions and death sentences in Iran since March, and the continued use of the death penalty as a tool to instill fear in the population and suppress opposition.”
