Emir of Qatar and US President discuss de-escalation between Washington and Tehran - Sarmad

Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad received a phone call from U.S. President Donald Trump, discussing the latest regional developments, foremost among them efforts to de-escalate tensions between the United States and Iran and to advance diplomatic initiatives aimed at bridging differences between the two sides.

According to a statement from the Diwan Amiri (Emiri Court) in Qatar, the two sides explored ways to enhance the prospects of reaching a sustainable diplomatic settlement to the crisis, which would contribute to supporting security and stability at both the regional and international levels.

The U.S. president praised Qatar’s role in supporting diplomatic tracks and facilitating dialogue among the parties concerned, considering these efforts instrumental in bolstering stability in the region.

For his part, the Emir of Qatar stressed the importance of continuing dialogue and prioritizing diplomatic solutions to address contentious issues.

He also emphasized the necessity for all parties to adhere to the agreements reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran, and to support international initiatives aimed at containing tensions and consolidating peace and security.
