Egypt: The Fake Judge in Interior Ministry Custody; Public Prosecution Orders Detention Pending Investigation - Sarmad

In the context of uncovering the circumstances surrounding comments supported by video clips circulated on social media, which showed two individuals committing fraud and deceiving citizens by impersonating judicial authorities and seizing their money, with one of them soliciting funds from followers under the pretext of collecting donations for a medical case.

Through investigation, the two individuals appearing in the videos were identified and arrested (one is unemployed and the other is a student; one has a criminal record; both reside in Cairo and Giza). Items seized from them included a sound-making device (tambourine), three mobile phones, and a laptop. Examination revealed that these items contained evidence confirming their criminal activities, along with forged identity cards. Upon confrontation, they confessed to forming a criminal gang whose illicit activities focused on defrauding citizens by misleading them into believing they could secure government housing units for them, thereby seizing their money. They also admitted to staging fabricated scenes at a courthouse with the help of others to further deceive their victims. One of them confessed to committing several similar offenses and to printing the forged cards at a printing press in the Muski area. The operator of that printing press was arrested (a resident of the Al-Zawya Al-Hamra Police Station district). Items seized from him included a computer and a printing machine. Examination confirmed that these items contained evidence corroborating his criminal activities.

Legal procedures have been initiated, and upon presentation to the Public Prosecution, the suspects were ordered detained pending further investigations.
