US Media: Washington-Tehran Talks to Focus on Freedom of Navigation in the Strait of Hormuz - Sarmad

Sources said that the United States and Iran would focus, during the negotiations announced by US President Donald Trump, primarily on resuming navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and lifting the US blockade on Iranian ports, according to the US Associated Press.

The agency added that the negotiations would also address halting all attacks in the region, including those carried out by Iran-aligned armed factions in Iraq, as well as resuming Iran’s oil exports without impediments.

It noted that countries playing a mediating role intend to intensify their communications with Washington and Tehran in the coming days, explaining that at this stage the two sides could return to the basic principles of the memorandum of understanding signed between them on June 18.
