Iran denies Trump's statements: We are not currently holding talks with the United States - Sarmad

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said on Monday that his country is not currently holding talks with the United States, but is engaging in discussions with the Sultanate of Oman regarding a temporary safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Baghaei added that reaching an agreement with Oman would not be sufficient to reopen the strait, as the situation would remain unchanged as long as the so-called American “aggression” continues.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that new negotiations with Iran would begin on Monday, conditional on reaching a swift agreement.

Speaking to reporters on Sunday evening aboard the presidential plane, he said, “It is clear that they do not want to be subjected to an attack. They were aware of the scale of the attack because they saw the signs forming. Currently, what we are doing is talking to them within the framework of negotiations. (They) will begin on Monday afternoon.”
