Minister of Defense: The anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion will remain deeply etched in the consciousness of the Kuwaiti people to draw inspiration from the meanings of patriotism - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Salim Al-Sabah affirmed that the anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion will remain deeply etched in the consciousness of the Kuwaiti people, inspiring generations with meanings of loyalty, belonging, and the values of national unity, solidarity, adherence to legitimacy, and safeguarding the country’s security, stability, and sovereignty.

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the 36th anniversary of the brutal Iraqi invasion of Kuwait, which coincides with today, Sunday, represents a pivotal milestone in the nation’s history, through which we recall the heroic and sacrificial deeds performed by Kuwait’s loyal sons.

He added that among the foremost of these deeds are the sacrifices made by the nation’s righteous martyrs and the brave prisoners of war, in the most exemplary displays of defending the country and preserving its dignity and identity.

He noted that this ordeal demonstrated that Kuwait’s strength lay in the cohesion between its legitimate leadership and its loyal people, and in the unity of the national front, which is the fundamental pillar of resilience and steadfastness in the face of occupation, ultimately leading to victory. Kuwait was restored free, by the grace of God Almighty, then through the solidarity of its sons, the support of fraternal and friendly nations, and the efforts of the international community in upholding justice and ending the aggression.

Sheikh Abdullah Al-Sabah pointed out that this national anniversary serves as an occasion to renew the pledge to remember the sacrifices of the martyrs and all those who contributed to defending Kuwait and restoring its sovereignty.

He prayed to God Almighty to envelop Kuwait’s martyrs in His boundless mercy and to perpetuate the blessings of security, safety, and stability for the nation under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, may God protect and guard him, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, may God protect him.
