Al-Ghanem: On August 2, Kuwait wrote one of the most honorable pages of its history - Sarmad

Former Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Al-Ghanem said: “On August 2, we do not merely commemorate a brutal invasion; rather, we stand before one of the most noble chapters in Kuwaiti history, inscribed with the blood of martyrs, the patience of prisoners, the steadfastness of men, and the unity of a people who believe that homelands are redeemed, not compromised.”

Al-Ghanem added: “That day was a deep wound in the conscience of the nation. Yet, Kuwait proved to the world that sovereignty is not merely borders drawn on maps, but an unconquerable will, an unbreakable patriotism, and an unwavering loyalty that does not waver however severe the trials and calamities may become.”

He pointed out that on this eternal national anniversary, we reverently and respectfully pray for our righteous martyrs, who sacrificed their lives defending Kuwait’s soil, becoming beacons of honor, symbols of self-sacrifice, and a trust incumbent upon the shoulders of generations. May God have mercy on them with a vast mercy, and may He make their sacrifices a light guiding the nation’s children to the meanings of loyalty and devotion.

He stressed that honoring this anniversary is not achieved by reviving sorrow, but by safeguarding the trust left by the martyrs, preserving national unity, entrenching the values of belonging, protecting the country’s sovereignty, and adhering to its fundamental principles, so that it remains proud and impregnable, as the fathers and forefathers intended.

He said: “Kuwait will remain, God willing, a free and proud homeland, resistant to every aspirant, preserved by God’s care, and then by the sincerity of its leadership, the awareness of its people, and the sacrifices of its sons.”
