Abdel-Ati: Passport issuance for Egyptians abroad to be shortened to less than two weeks - Sarmad

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Egyptians Abroad Authority, Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, affirmed that caring for Egyptians abroad, protecting their rights and dignity, and providing all possible facilitations for them constitute a firm priority and a national imperative.

In his speech at the seventh edition of the Egyptians Abroad Conference, organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the slogan “No matter how far we wander… Egypt brings us closer,” Abdel Ati emphasized the ministry’s continued efforts to develop services and initiatives targeted at Egyptians abroad. He stressed that the ministry’s work priorities are driven by the recommendations of the annual conference, alongside direct engagement with members of the diaspora communities, within the framework of coordination and integration with various ministries and national entities.

He outlined key achievements over the past year in developing services for Egyptians abroad, foremost among them the expansion of digital consular services, reducing passport issuance time to less than two weeks, shortening the processing period for computerized birth certificates to between three and five days, and increasing the number of authentication offices from 15 to approximately 40, including mobile offices. He also announced the launch of the first phase of a project to create an interactive website for Egyptians abroad, enabling the digitalization of consular transactions, thereby facilitating access to services and enhancing their efficiency.

Furthermore, he reviewed developments in initiatives launched by the ministry in collaboration with various ministries and entities, including “Your Home in Egypt,” “Your Farm in Egypt,” “Open Your Account in Egypt,” “Your School in Egypt,” and “Your Healthcare in Egypt,” alongside the social protection umbrella for Egyptians abroad and the Egyptians Abroad Cultural Salon. He confirmed the ongoing monitoring of the implementation of these initiatives and the work to launch new phases of them.
