US Secretary of State: We will not allow China to become the world's strongest country - Sarmad

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirmed that the United States will not allow China to become the world’s dominant power at its expense, emphasizing the importance of maintaining direct communication channels between Washington and Beijing to manage differences and avoid any conflict whose repercussions could be catastrophic for both countries and the world. He also reiterated his country’s firm opposition to any coercive change to the status quo in Taiwan.

In an interview with Fox News on Saturday, Rubio said that China seeks to become the world’s strongest power and intends to achieve this at the expense of the United States, but the U.S. will not permit that to happen.

He noted that the United States and China are the world’s two largest economies and possibly its two most powerful militaries as well. Adding that while U.S. military capabilities are more advanced, he believed it was crucial for two such major powers—the world’s strongest—to maintain a relationship and the ability to communicate directly, and to try to contain their differences whenever possible, because the absence of such dialogue could lead to highly detrimental outcomes.
