"Israel": Peace Council document does not adequately meet Israeli demands - Sarmad

Israel announced its rejection of the understandings being shaped by mediators and Hamas regarding the implementation of US President Donald Trump’s plan for the Gaza Strip through the “Peace Council.”

Israeli media quoted a political source as saying that “the Gaza file was not even raised during the meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump,” emphasizing that Israel insists on the complete disarmament of Hamas, the removal of weapons from the Gaza Strip, and the transformation of the Strip into a demilitarized zone before any political process begins.

The source added that the 15-point document prepared by the “Peace Council” “does not adequately meet Israeli demands,” noting that Israel had conveyed its comments on it to international envoy Tony Blair.

The source stressed that Israel would not withdraw from the “Yellow Line” inside the Gaza Strip before completing the disarmament of Hamas and achieving full demilitarization of the Strip, a stance that contradicts reports of progress in negotiations between mediators and the movement.
