Algeria: 25 dead and 44 injured in a horrific traffic accident - Sarmad

The Algerian Civil Protection announced on Friday the death of 25 people and the injury of 44 others in an initial tally following a horrific road accident involving the overturning and fall of a passenger bus in the Bir El Djir area of Boumerdès Province, eastern Algeria.
In a statement, the Civil Protection said its units intervened at around 10 a.m., immediately after receiving a report of the bus, which was traveling from Sétif Province in the east, veering off course, overturning, and falling into a ravine on the bypass road between Bir El Djir municipality and the Boumerdès district.
The statement clarified that rescue and hospital evacuation operations were still ongoing, adding that “the casualty toll is likely to rise given the severity of most of the injuries.”
