Interior Ministry Organizes Seminar to Enhance the Role of “Women, Peace and Security” - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior organized a seminar titled “Women, Peace and Security” today, Wednesday, hosted by the Arab Planning Institute, as part of national efforts to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security in the State of Kuwait.

In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said that the lecture delivered by Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Al-Duwaikh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs, was part of the ministry’s efforts to raise awareness of human rights concepts, enhance the role of women in various fields, and consolidate the principles of partnership and institutional cooperation, in line with the State of Kuwait’s orientations and international commitments.

The statement clarified that the seminar addressed the axes of the aforementioned UN Security Council Resolution and Kuwait’s national plan for its implementation.

The statement quoted Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duwaikh emphasizing the importance of “integrating efforts among various government entities and state institutions to enhance women’s participation in peacebuilding and decision-making, and to support their role in achieving security, stability, and sustainable development.”

According to the statement, Major General Khaled Al-Humaidi, Head of the Education and Training Sector, affirmed that “hosting Sheikha Jawaher Al-Duwaikh represents an important scientific and national contribution, given her pioneering expertise and prominent contributions in the field of human rights and diplomatic work.”
