Egyptian President to Jordanian King: Security of the Kingdom is an integral part of our national security - Sarmad
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi affirmed on Wednesday that Jordan’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, stressing his country’s firm rejection and condemnation of the reprehensible Iranian attacks that targeted Jordan and several other countries.
This came during a phone call made by the Egyptian president today to Jordanian King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein. According to a statement issued by the spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, al-Sisi emphasized at the outset of the call the special nature of the historical relations and the deep popular ties linking Cairo and Amman.
President al-Sisi underscored Egypt’s full support for all measures taken by the wise Jordanian leadership to protect the security and sovereignty of the kingdom and safeguard the assets of its people. He pointed to the importance of coordinating international and regional efforts to reach political solutions to the ongoing crisis in the region, thereby leading to de-escalation and the restoration of security and stability, while avoiding the severe repercussions of continuing current tensions.
The Egyptian president also affirmed his country’s solidarity with Jordan in confronting all forms of terrorism and extremism.
For his part, King Abdullah II expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s position and President al-Sisi’s consistent support for Jordan in facing challenges, reaffirming the shared history and close relations between the two countries across various fields, as well as the deep bonds between their peoples.
The Jordanian monarch appreciated the Egyptian president’s vision, which is based on upholding the principles of international law and good neighborliness, and working toward a peaceful and comprehensive settlement of the current tensions.
The two leaders also discussed developments related to the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the necessity of reaching a just and comprehensive solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and in implementation of the two-state solution.
They reiterated their firm rejection of the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, warning against the dangers posed by the actions of extremist right-wing elements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
In this context, the Egyptian president expressed Egypt’s steadfast support for the Hashemite historical custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing Egypt’s pride in the continuous and institutional coordination with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and its commitment to enhancing such cooperation to address current shared challenges.
