Iranian official to Reuters: We reject Oman's proposal regarding the Strait of Hormuz - Sarmad

A senior Iranian official told Reuters on Wednesday that Tehran had ruled out Oman’s proposal for joint regional management of the Strait of Hormuz, deeming it unlikely to succeed.

The official added that only Iran and Oman have the right to determine arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz, based on their respective shares, and that Tehran rejects any role for other countries in this regard.

The official noted that Iran insists on maintaining full control over the entire inbound passage through the Strait of Hormuz and part of the outbound route, adding that the southern routes through the strait could pose a risk to ships, and that Oman’s control should correspond to its share of the waterway.
