Qatar: Consultative meeting of GCC foreign ministers convenes to exchange views on current developments - Sarmad

(KUNA) — The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that during a consultative meeting held by the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, views were exchanged on developments in the current phase.

The ministry stated in a press release that Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani participated in the consultative meeting held by the GCC foreign ministers via video conferencing technology.

The statement added that the meeting saw an exchange of views on current developments and updates on ongoing negotiations, as well as efforts to advance them toward practical understandings that contribute to reducing tensions and enhancing an environment of regional security and stability.

The ministers also discussed ways to intensify coordination and consultation among GCC member states regarding issues related to freedom of navigation and safety in the Strait of Hormuz, ensuring the rights of passage and transit, the smooth flow of ships, trade, and supplies in accordance with international law, and safeguarding the sovereign rights of all coastal states of the Gulf waters.

The ministers emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts, prioritizing political and diplomatic approaches, and creating favorable conditions for building trust and reaching acceptable solutions for all parties.
