Ministry of Awqaf Opens Applications for Imam, Assistant Imam, Khateeb, and Muazzin Positions for Kuwaiti Nationals - Sarmad

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced today the opening of applications for the positions of imam, imam and khateeb, and muezzin for Kuwaiti citizens.

It clarified that registration will take place at the Technical Affairs Department of the Mosques Sector, in the Al-Ruqa’i area, at the Imams and Muezzins Training Building, Ground Floor.

This will be during official working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Ministry stated in a statement that to be eligible for a job title change from “muezzin” to “imam,” the applicant must have served as a muezzin for at least 15 years and have memorized no less than 15 juz’ (parts) of the Holy Quran.

The Ministry also required successful passage of the written exam and the scheduled oral interview for the position, according to the prescribed curriculum, and that the applicant be known for piety, good conduct, and behavior, and demonstrate moderation and centrism. The applicant must not have been convicted of a crime involving breach of honor or trust, and must demonstrate to the oral interview committee that they hold sound creed, have clear speech and intact senses, and possess a pleasant voice and dignified appearance.

Holders of PhD degrees in Islamic Sciences are exempt from the oral interview requirement (qualifications obtained outside Kuwait must be authenticated by the relevant government authorities).
