Meteorology: Gradual settling of dust and improvement in horizontal visibility starting tonight - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Acting Director of the Meteorology Department, Derrar Al-Ali, said that the speed of the northwesterly winds will decrease, dust will gradually settle, and horizontal visibility will improve starting tonight.

Al-Ali told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the country was affected today, Monday, by an extension of a surface low-pressure system accompanied by a very hot air mass, with light to moderate northwesterly winds that occasionally strengthen, with speeds ranging between 15 and 55 kilometers per hour.

He clarified that the winds stirred up sand and dust, causing horizontal visibility to drop to less than 1,000 meters in some areas, particularly exposed ones.

He noted that wind speeds will decrease and dust will settle tonight, with light to moderate northwesterly winds that occasionally strengthen in coastal areas, causing sea waves to rise. He stated that the maximum temperature recorded today was 46 degrees Celsius.

He added that the weather forecast for tomorrow, Tuesday, is very hot during the day and hot to warm at night, with light to moderate northwesterly winds that occasionally strengthen, ranging between 15 and 45 kilometers per hour, with a chance of dust over exposed areas.

Al-Ali said the expected minimum temperature tomorrow morning will range from 34 to 36 degrees Celsius, and the maximum from 47 to 49 degrees Celsius.

He urged drivers on highways to exercise caution due to reduced horizontal visibility on some highways, and emphasized that asthma and allergy patients must wear masks when going out due to rising dust.
