Trump: Ready for a "strong military action" if negotiations with Iran fail - Sarmad

US President Donald Trump affirmed on Monday that he is prepared for “strong military action” if talks with Iran fail, following his decision to temporarily suspend military strikes on Tehran.

In an interview with Axios, he stated that his administration would not grant negotiations with Iran an extended period, noting that the ongoing talks are “deep” but will not continue indefinitely.

When asked about the timeframe he is allowing for diplomacy with Tehran, he replied: “Not a long time. Either things move quickly, or they don’t move at all.”

Trump also revealed that he decided to halt the strikes on Friday after mediators requested that negotiations be given an additional chance, adding that he believes Iran wants to reach an agreement.

Commenting on the decision to suspend attacks, the White House spokesperson said, “We have neither gained nor lost anything,” clarifying that oil prices fell and stock markets rose following the de-escalation of military tensions.

The US president warned that the failure of the diplomatic track would lead to a resumption of confrontation, stating, “If negotiations with Iran fail, we will return to war with greater strength.”

These remarks came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to arrive in Washington, where he said he would meet with President Trump in their first direct talks since the onset of their conflict with Iran.

This will be the eighth time Netanyahu has met with Trump since the US president returned to the White House, and their first meeting since February, prior to the joint Israeli-US air campaign against Iran.
