Egypt National Team Coach Hossam Hassan on Argentina's 'Enemies' List - Sarmad
A program on the Argentine channel Todo Noticias sparked widespread controversy after it presented a list of 10 global figures accused of promoting what it described as “anti-Argentina” sentiment following the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup.
This came after the Argentine national team lost the title in the final match against Spain, 1–0 after extra time, failing to retain the championship despite a strong campaign that included victories over Algeria, Austria, Jordan, Cape Verde, Egypt, Switzerland, and England.
During the tournament, the Argentine national team faced criticism from several media and sports personalities, due to allegations that it benefited from certain refereeing decisions, as well as criticism regarding the on-field behavior of some of its players.
The list included Egyptian national team coach Hossam Hassan, who had criticized refereeing after his team’s loss to Argentina in the Round of 16, accusing the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) of favoring Lionel Messi and the Argentine national team, according to Al Jazeera.
The Egyptian coach reiterated these claims immediately after the match. Hassan told beIN Sports after the game, “We were better, but what happened was not fair. What happened to us was not fair. We should have been awarded a penalty, and a goal was disallowed, and I don’t know why. After that, we could have led 3–1, but the score turned to 2–2.”
He added, “I don’t know, is this about marketing? Do they want the World Cup champion to continue in the tournament? Do they want Lionel Messi to continue?”
The list also included British media personality Piers Morgan, who strongly criticized the behavior of Argentine players after their final loss to Spain, writing on the platform X: “The Argentines’ behavior at the end was disgusting, especially Barreda. They are a group of violent players, and this is a stain on football. I did not feel happy watching a team lose as I did today.”
The program’s host, Jonathan Viale, responded, “Do we really have to listen to an English journalist spouting such nonsense?”
The program also included American actor Samuel Jackson, after he described Argentina following the final as “one of the most racist countries in the world.”
The list also featured American content creator “Speed,” known for his constant support of Cristiano Ronaldo, after he attended several Argentina matches backing their opponents and celebrated Spain’s victory in the final in a conspicuous manner. He also engaged in repeated altercations with Argentine national team fans.

Spanish singer Rosalía.
Chilean actor Pedro Pascal.
The television report sparked widespread interaction on social media, with some viewing it as a defense of the Argentine national team, while others saw it as exaggerating criticisms into an organized campaign against the country.
