Kuwait's Ambassador to the United States Participates in the Aspen Institute's 2026 Work Forum - Sarmad
(KUNA) – Sheikh Alaa Al-Sabah, Kuwait’s Ambassador to the United States, participated as a keynote speaker at the opening session of the Aspen Institute’s Aspen Ideas Festival 2026, organized by the Aspen Institute in Colorado, USA.
Ambassador Alaa Al-Sabah’s participation took place within the opening session titled “Humanity Today: Where Do We Find Ourselves?”, which discussed the transformations the world is undergoing amid rapid developments in artificial intelligence and technology, and their impact on trust, identity, leadership, and human values.
During her remarks, she emphasized that the real challenge facing the world today does not lie in the speed of technological advancement, but rather in humanity’s ability to keep pace with this progress through wisdom, responsibility, and ethical values. She noted that building trust will become the fundamental pillar for the prosperity of societies and the stability of international relations in the coming phase.
She also highlighted Kuwait’s experience and the commitment reflected in its foreign policy to dialogue, diplomacy, and bridge-building as essential tools for enhancing regional and international security and stability.
She stressed that leadership in the modern era is no longer measured solely by technical or economic capabilities, but by the ability to preserve human dignity, strengthen trust, and assume responsibility toward future generations.
This participation carries special symbolic significance, as the Aspen Institute itself occupies a prominent place in international political memory as the venue where former U.S. President George H.W. Bush delivered his historic stance rejecting the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, alongside the unified stand of the international community in defense of Kuwait’s sovereignty and its rejection of the brutal Iraqi aggression. This stance marked a pivotal moment in consolidating the principles of respecting international law and state sovereignty. The Aspen Institute continues, through its programs and forums, to play its role as a platform bringing together top leaders, policymakers, and thinkers to discuss major issues shaping the future of the international order.
The forum, held from the 12th to the 24th of this month, saw the attendance of a distinguished group of former heads of state, senior government officials, private sector leaders, academics, technology pioneers, and civil society representatives from around the world. Its sessions addressed the most prominent global challenges related to leadership, innovation, security, governance, and the future of international cooperation.
