Qatar and Egypt discuss latest regional developments and de-escalation efforts - Sarmad

(KUNA) – The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, held talks on Saturday with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, to discuss the latest regional developments.

A statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the meeting took place during the reception of the Egyptian minister in Doha. During the talks, the two sides reviewed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to support and strengthen them, and discussed the latest regional developments, particularly diplomatic efforts and joint coordination to de-escalate tensions and enhance security and stability in the region.

The Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister emphasized the need for all parties to commit to dialogue and diplomacy, and to implement the agreements reached under the memorandum of understanding between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, including ensuring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz to safeguard regional security, preserve achieved gains, and bolster regional stability.

He reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for all efforts aimed at defusing tensions and reaching a comprehensive agreement that achieves sustainable peace in the region.
