Sudan and Saudi Arabia to sign agreement next month to establish joint cooperation council - Sarmad

Sudanese Foreign Minister Mahieddin al-Salim announced that Sudan and Saudi Arabia will sign an agreement next month to establish the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination.

In an interview with Sudan’s national television, al-Salim affirmed that this step represents a qualitative leap in the trajectory of relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan’s strategic partner.

He stated that Sudan looks forward to a strategic partnership with the Kingdom through this council, viewing it as a pivotal institutional framework for unifying visions and activating areas of cooperation, thereby elevating bilateral relations to comprehensive strategic horizons.

Al-Salim praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s supportive stance toward Sudan, expressing his appreciation for its leadership and emphasizing that the Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation and Coordination would contribute to achieving significant gains for both countries and the Arab nation.

He added that the establishment of the council would provide broad opportunities to enhance joint cooperation and realize the interests of both countries across various fields.

The minister stressed that “everything that targets the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Arab countries also targets Sudan,” underscoring the unity of destiny and shared interests.

He also commended the positions of fraternal countries, foremost among them Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, and the Sultanate of Oman, along with several other nations that supported Sudan.
