Jordan: Settler attacks are an extension of the Israeli government’s extremist policies - Sarmad

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned on Saturday the escalation of settler terrorism against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including recent attacks targeting several villages, in which settlers burned homes, agricultural land, and vehicles, uprooted large numbers of trees, and carried out assaults against Palestinians.

In a statement, the ministry’s official spokesperson, Ambassador Fuad al-Majali, affirmed Jordan’s absolute rejection of these attacks committed by Israeli settlers, stressing that they are an extension of the policies of the extremist Israeli government and illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, which fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermine prospects for achieving peace based on a two-state solution. He held Israel, the occupying Power, responsible for these attacks.

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, to compel Israel, the occupying Power, to halt settler attacks, to hold the perpetrators of crimes accountable, and to ensure they do not escape punishment. It also called for fulfilling the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, as the sole path to achieving just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.
