About 100 supporters of Nicolás Maduro burned American and Israeli flags on Friday (local time) in Simón Bolívar Square in central Caracas, chanting anti-US slogans against the United States, which detained the former president and currently exerts a dominant presence in Venezuela, according to an AFP photographer.
Protesters also trampled images of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu while shouting, “Americans, go back home” and “This is not aid, but occupation,” referring to the assistance provided by Washington to Venezuela following the two devastating earthquakes that struck on June 24.
