The General Directorate of Customs reported that customs officials at the Nuwaybis border crossing thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of cigarettes out of the country.
The seizure followed a thorough customs inspection of one of the vehicles, which revealed 43 cartons and 8 packs of cigarettes tightly concealed inside the fuel tank and the gear shift console, in compartments specifically prepared to hide the contraband, confirming that the vehicle had been prepared for smuggling purposes.
Appropriate legal measures have been taken, and a seizure report is being prepared. The suspect and the seized items have been referred to the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation to complete the required legal procedures.
