Syria condemned statements by Yemeni Houthi militia “Ansar Allah” military spokesperson Yahya Saree, in which he accused Riyadh of besieging the Yemeni people.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Syria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these remarks constitute a departure from the principles of good neighborliness and a disregard for efforts aimed at regional reconciliation and overcoming differences.
The statement praised “responsible Saudi positions” grounded in the principles of international legitimacy and respect for state sovereignty, affirming that the era of sectarian rhetoric and political posturing has passed, and that the current stage demands solidarity rather than discord, and cooperation rather than criminalization.
The statement concluded by reaffirming Syria’s confidence in the ability of Arab states to thwart any attempts to sow discord or distort the image of fraternal relations among brotherly nations, as Syria stands alongside Riyadh in confronting these allegations.
