US Media: Today.. Trump Gives Saudi Arabia the Green Light to Acquire Nuclear Capabilities - Sarmad

U.S. President Donald Trump has approved an agreement with Saudi Arabia that could grant the kingdom the ability to enrich uranium as part of its civilian nuclear program.

The Associated Press cited two sources as saying the agreement is expected to be officially announced early on Wednesday.

The nuclear deal between Washington and Riyadh will allow uranium enrichment on Saudi soil.

The agreement is expected to last for 30 years, and U.S. companies are anticipated to participate in developing the program.

Two sources told Reuters that the Trump administration intends to submit an agreement to Congress in the coming days to exchange nuclear energy technology with Saudi Arabia.

The sources clarified that the administration will submit to Congress a document known as a “123 Agreement,” signed by U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman. The two parties had signed a preliminary agreement in Riyadh last year.

The agreement refers to Section 123 of the U.S. Atomic Energy Act of 1954 and requires the U.S. government and companies to cooperate with Saudi entities to develop a civilian nuclear industry.

One source said the administration would present the agreement to Congress on Wednesday, while another noted it would be submitted within approximately two weeks.
