US Defense Secretary: Cost of Military Operations Against Iran Reaches $37.5 Billion - Sarmad

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth revealed that the cost of U.S. military operations against Iran has reached $37.5 billion.

Hegseth’s remarks came during a congressional hearing attended by U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, which focused on the Trump administration’s request for an additional $67 billion in funding to help cover the costs of the conflict with Iran and replenish vital military stocks, as well as a request for $1.5 trillion in funding for the Department of Defense’s operations in the upcoming fiscal year.

The Defense Secretary told lawmakers from the Senate Appropriations Committee that this amount “covers the current period for certain aspects and also includes military salaries, operational costs, maintenance, and other anticipated expenses through September 30 (the end of the current fiscal year).”

He added, “Thus, part of this figure also anticipates costs that will be incurred in the future (through the end of September).”
