Deputy Minister of Defense: Kuwait keen on strengthening its defense and military ties with China - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Deputy Minister of Defense Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Mishaal Al-Sabah on Tuesday praised the “distinguished relations” between the State of Kuwait and the People’s Republic of China, which are based on friendship and strategic partnerships, particularly in the fields of defense and security.

This statement came from the Deputy Minister of Defense following his attendance at a celebration hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Kuwait, marking the 99th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army. The event was attended by Brigadier General Faisal Al-Ajil, Commander of the Artillery Corps and representative of the Chief of Staff of the Kuwaiti Army, as well as a number of heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations in the country.

He stated that the bilateral relations between the two countries are founded on “mutual respect, constructive dialogue, and entrenched strategic partnerships,” expressing hope for their future development in a manner that supports the security, stability, and prosperity of the region.

The Deputy Minister of Defense extended sincere congratulations to the Chinese Ambassador to Kuwait, Yang Xin, as well as to the Chinese government and people on this occasion, wishing them continued progress and success.

For his part, Military Attaché at the Chinese Embassy, Major General Liu Zongchen, emphasized in a speech during the celebration that the two countries enjoy “long-standing friendship,” noting that “the strategic partnership has achieved significant progress in recent years, particularly in military relations, thanks to the commitment of the leaderships of both countries to develop it.”

Chen said that military cooperation presents good opportunities, affirming the commitment to strengthening it, as well as working to implement the agreements reached between the two countries.
