Trump: We will respond to the Houthis if they impose a blockade on the Red Sea - Sarmad
(Royters) – U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States would respond if the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen carried out its threat to impose a blockade on commercial navigation in the Red Sea.
He added that if the group took action, the United States would have to “deal with it.”
In a related development, the U.S. president said the United States would bomb the Mount Al-Fas site, located near the Natanz Iranian uranium enrichment facility that suffered severe damage, “very soon.”
The heavily fortified Mount Al-Fas site includes two complexes of tunnels buried at great depths, which experts believe are beyond the reach of the most powerful bunker-busting bombs in the U.S. arsenal.
The site is linked to Iran’s nuclear program.
Israeli intelligence agencies believe that Iran moved thousands of centrifuges used for uranium enrichment into tunnels carved deep into the mountain last autumn, according to the Wall Street Journal, citing Israeli and American officials.
According to the newspaper, Israel informed the United States of these assessments, noting that the centrifuges were moved to a site known as “Mount Picax” or “Mount Al-Fas” inside Iran, following the 12-day war in June 2025, which saw intense U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran’s three main nuclear facilities.
This disclosure comes as Israel’s military objectives toward Iran diverge from U.S. positions. According to the newspaper, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to persuade U.S. President Donald Trump to resume large-scale attacks on Iran, aiming to slow its military programs and efforts to rebuild its capabilities.
Trump had publicly mentioned the site in an interview with conservative broadcaster Hugh Hewitt on July 13, describing it as a “potential target for a major strike,” marking his first direct reference to the possibility of targeting “Mount Al-Fas.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister and the International Atomic Energy Agency did not respond to the newspaper’s requests for comment, while the White House referred to Trump’s previous statements regarding the site.
