“International Red Cross”: “Kuwait Red Crescent” is a key partner in humanitarian programs - Sarmad
(KUNA) — The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Regional Delegation, Anne Momtazpour, affirmed on Tuesday that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) is a key partner of the ICRC in numerous joint regional and international humanitarian initiatives, praising the society’s prominent humanitarian role and the high regard it enjoys within the humanitarian community.
Momtazpour, speaking after her visit to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, stated that the cooperation between the ICRC and the society represents a successful model of humanitarian partnership based on coordination and the exchange of expertise.
She emphasized the ICRC’s commitment to continuing joint efforts and developing humanitarian programs and projects to address growing humanitarian challenges and enhance responses for the most vulnerable populations.
She added that the humanitarian initiatives implemented by the society reflect a firm commitment to humanitarian principles, while also contributing to strengthening relief efforts and consolidating the values of humanitarian solidarity at both the regional and international levels.
For his part, Khaled Al-Mugams, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, told KUNA that the society is keen to expand the horizons of cooperation with its international partners, exchanging expertise and successful experiences to enhance the efficiency of humanitarian work and keep pace with escalating challenges.
Al-Mugams noted that the coming phase requires greater integration and coordination, as well as the consolidation of joint efforts to achieve humanitarian objectives and serve affected communities. He explained that this meeting aims to strengthen the strategic partnership with the ICRC, with which the society maintains close and fruitful relations spanning many years across various humanitarian fields.
He appreciated the efforts made by the Regional Delegation in the past period to develop coordination mechanisms and joint work, expressing the society’s aspiration to continue this cooperation through launching flagship initiatives and programs, exchanging expertise, and reinforcing commitment to humanitarian principles.
