First Abu Dhabi Bank Maintains Credit Rating of AA- from Global Agencies - Sarmad

First Abu Dhabi Bank has maintained its position as the highest-rated banking group in the Middle East and North Africa, and among the highest-rated banks globally.

This follows the confirmation by credit rating agencies Moody’s, S&P Global Ratings, and Fitch Ratings of its credit ratings at the “AA-” level or equivalent, with a stable outlook.

In a press statement issued today, the bank explained that these ratings reflect the strength of its financial position and asset quality, the robustness of its capital and liquidity bases, alongside disciplined risk management, and its systemic importance within the UAE’s banking sector, placing it among the world’s top banks in terms of creditworthiness.

The reaffirmation of these ratings comes amid global economic changes, underscoring the bank’s ability to sustain strong financial performance and maintain the strength of its capital, liquidity, asset quality, and profitability indicators.

The statement noted that the stable outlook assigned by the three rating agencies reflects their confidence in the bank’s ability to preserve its strong financial position and achieve sustainable performance across various economic cycles.

It added that First Abu Dhabi Bank’s credit strength is also underpinned by its market leadership in the UAE, the diversification of its funding sources, and its close relationships with sovereign entities, as it serves as the primary banking partner for the Abu Dhabi government and several government entities and state-linked companies.

The bank emphasized that this standing enhances its access to global funding markets, supported by a broad and diverse base of international investors. Its bond issuances have seen subscription levels exceeding supply, and it has successfully raised financing exceeding AED 22 billion (approximately USD 6 billion) from the beginning of the year to date.
