The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed, on Friday, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s strong condemnation and denunciation of the repeated, despicable Iranian attacks that targeted civilian and critical infrastructure in the Kingdom, the State of Kuwait, the State of Qatar, and Jordan with missiles and drones. These attacks were characterized as a serious escalation that threatens the safety of civilians, regional security, and stability, and as a blatant violation of the rules of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the principles of good neighborliness.
In a statement, the Ministry affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s full solidarity with sister states and its support for the right of states to take all lawful measures to defend their sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and residents on their territories, in accordance with international law, Article 51 of the UN Charter, and the Joint Defense Agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the competence of the Bahrain Defense Force and the air defenses of regional states, as well as their high readiness to confront the despicable Iranian attacks and defend the sovereignty of their countries and the gains of their peoples.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s call on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take firm and deterrent measures to compel Iran to cease its treacherous hostile actions, ensure the security, safety, and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and hold it fully accountable under international law, the UN Charter, UN Security Council Resolution 2817, and UN Human Rights Council Resolution 1/61, thereby enhancing security, stability, peace, and sustainable development in the region and worldwide.
