US Army announces start of new wave of strikes against Iran - Sarmad

(KUNA) – U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Thursday the commencement of a new wave of strikes against Iran in response to attacks on commercial vessels near the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, CENTCOM said, “U.S. forces began launching a new wave of strikes against Iran at 2:00 a.m. Eastern Time, marking the fifth consecutive night of operations.”

The statement clarified that the U.S. strikes aim to further undermine Iran’s military capabilities to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. forces had resumed a naval blockade on ships heading to Iranian ports and coastal areas, or departing from them, starting yesterday, Tuesday, in response to the attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
