Lebanese Military Court Lifts Travel Ban on Fadl Shaker and Hands Over His Passport - Sarmad

Lebanese Al-Jadeed TV reported that the military court decided on Wednesday to lift the travel ban on artist Fadl Shaker.

The channel noted that the military court handed Shaker his passport, with the condition that he attend future hearings.

The Lebanese artist had been released two weeks prior, on March 12, in three cases, against a financial bail of 100 million Lebanese pounds for each file, and a bail of 200 million Lebanese pounds for the “Abara file,” after months of his arrest and trial.

The trial continues before Military Court Judge Brigadier General Wissam Fayyad in the case widely known in the media as the “Abara events,” with the court continuing to hear witness testimonies regarding the events that took place in June 2013.

In a separate legal proceeding, the Beirut Assize Court had previously issued a verdict acquitting Fadl Shaker of the charge of attempted murder of Sheikh Hilal Hamoud in Sidon in 2013, after finding insufficient legal evidence, no confession from the defendants against him, conflicting statements from the plaintiff, and the plaintiff’s prior withdrawal of the lawsuit.
