"Iraqi Judiciary" Recovers 375 Kilograms of Gold in Case of Deputy Minister of Oil - Sarmad

The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced on Monday the recovery of 375 kilograms of gold as part of judicial investigations into the case of Adnan al-Jamili, the accused deputy minister of oil in Iraq.

In a press statement issued today, the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council said that, in coordination with the Kurdistan Region and under the supervision of the council’s president, Judge Dr. Faiz Zidan, 358 kilograms of gold were recovered.

It added that an additional 17 kilograms were seized in a separate investigative case, bringing the total amount of gold secured that day to 375 kilograms. The recovered gold was handed over to the Director General of the Issuance and Treasury Department at the Central Bank of Iraq and his deputy.

The council noted that the Iraqi judiciary continues its investigations as part of efforts to complete the probe into the case of the detained deputy minister of oil, Adnan al-Jamili, in order to recover movable and immovable assets derived from the crime and to punish those responsible in accordance with the law.

Iraqi authorities had previously arrested dozens of senior officials, including former and current members of parliament, deputy ministers, general directors, and prominent political figures, in the largest financial corruption case led by the federal deputy minister of oil.
