Red Crescent Explores Enhancing Coordination with GCC Emergency Center - Sarmad
(KUNA) – The chairman of the board of directors of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Khaled Al-Mughams, affirmed today, Monday, the importance of enhancing coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Emergency Management Centre, in order to contribute to the development of crisis management systems and strengthen humanitarian response readiness in Gulf countries.
Al-Mughams told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after receiving a delegation from the Centre, led by Brigadier General and Legal Expert Dr. Rashid Al-Mari, that the meeting comes within the framework of both sides’ commitment to expanding cooperation horizons and exchanging expertise in the fields of emergency management, humanitarian response, and relief.
He added that the Society believes in the importance of building strategic partnerships with specialized Gulf institutions, as this has a significant impact on enhancing the efficiency of humanitarian work and developing disaster preparedness mechanisms, thereby serving those affected and achieving Gulf integration in this field.
He pointed out that the Society continues to carry out its humanitarian mission according to an institutional approach based on cooperation and coordination with various national, regional, and international entities, noting that the exchange of expertise and experiences contributes to elevating the humanitarian work system.
For his part, Brigadier General and Legal Expert Dr. Rashid Al-Mari, chairman of the GCC Emergency Management Centre, emphasized in a similar statement to (KUNA) the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination with the Kuwait Red Crescent Society and benefiting from its pioneering expertise and experiences in humanitarian, relief, and emergency management fields.
Al-Mari said that the discussions addressed ways to expand cooperation horizons between the two sides, noting that the Kuwait Red Crescent is a pioneer in Gulf and international humanitarian work, and that the Centre looks forward to strengthening this cooperation by organizing specialized training programs and workshops on disaster response and rapid reaction.
He highlighted that this bilateral cooperation in exchanging expertise would contribute to developing emergency response capabilities, achieving a qualitative leap in their humanitarian and relief work system, as well as enhancing integration among GCC states in crisis and disaster management.
It is worth noting that the GCC Emergency Management Centre, under the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council, was established in 2007 with the aim of managing crises and disasters by adopting an advanced administrative approach to predict all natural risks and industrial crises, and to determine how to deal with them.
