Qatar bids farewell to the Emir Emeritus Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa; its Emir leads funeral prayers for the deceased - Sarmad

(KUNA) – Qatar mourned the late Emir, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away today, Sunday, at the age of 74.

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad led the funeral prayer for the “great loss to the nation” at the Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque in the capital, Doha.

According to the agency, the funeral prayer was also led by the Deputy Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad, along with sheikhs, ministers, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and large crowds of citizens and residents.

The Qatari Diwan Al Amiri had previously announced that the Emir of Qatar would receive condolences at the Lusail Palace starting tomorrow, Monday, for a period of three days. It also declared a four-day period of general mourning and the suspension of work in ministries, government entities, and public institutions.
