Ministry of Higher Education Announces Results of Accepted Candidates for Overseas Scholarships; Sarmad Publishes Names
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Dr. Badr Al-Busairi, announced the results of the accepted candidates in the external scholarships plan for the academic year 2026/2027. A total of 2,704 high school graduates from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic years were accepted, across various educational systems in government, private, and foreign schools.
Dr. Al-Busairi emphasized that the external scholarships plan for the 2026/2027 academic year reflects the directives of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to enhance the quality of scholarships and improve their outcomes. This was achieved by reviewing the offered majors and giving greater priority to future-oriented and vital fields, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and modern technologies, alongside medical and allied health specialties. These efforts aim to prepare national cadres equipped with the skills and knowledge required for the coming phase.
He clarified that the Ministry ensured the management of all verification and sorting stages through an integrated operational system, guaranteeing the integrity of procedures, swift execution, and the reinforcement of governance, transparency, and fairness throughout the process. He added that the selection among applicants was conducted in accordance with the approved regulations and criteria of the scholarships plan, which included the equivalent GPA for medical and engineering majors, the general secondary education percentage for other majors, the student’s preference ranking (up to eight preferences), and the number of seats allocated at approved universities in scholarship destination countries.
Dr. Al-Busairi noted that the Ministry will organize an informational meeting for accepted candidates as part of the third phase of the national campaign “Wajihni” (Guide Me) on Monday and Tuesday, July 13–14. The event will feature representatives from the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, and the Scholarships Sector within the Ministry, with the aim of preparing students for the transition to the scholarship phase, informing them of post-acceptance procedures, and answering their inquiries.
He called on accepted candidates to complete post-acceptance procedures within 60 days of the announcement of results, ensuring that all scholarship requirements are fulfilled within the specified deadlines. He also urged them to follow the Ministry’s official accounts to stay updated on instructions and developments related to the post-acceptance phase.
