"The Observatory": 15 Israeli infiltrations into Syria within 10 days - Sarmad

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Saturday that the provinces of Daraa and Quneitra witnessed a notable escalation in Israeli military movements within Syrian territory during the first ten days of the current month.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the Observatory stated that this escalation manifested in a series of ground incursions, bombing operations, the establishment of temporary checkpoints, and gunfire, coinciding with intensive flights by drones and reconnaissance aircraft.

It added that Israeli forces carried out 15 ground incursions in the rural areas of Daraa and Quneitra between July 1 and July 10, involving approximately 30 military vehicles, including armored personnel carriers, armored vehicles, and Humvees. These operations were concentrated in the Yarmouk Basin area and villages adjacent to the Syrian Golan.

The Observatory noted that the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) continued its field patrols amid ongoing Israeli military activity, with no signs of a decline.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented a significant rise in the pace of Israeli military movements within Syrian territory during June, recording 74 incursions and military movements in the provinces of Quneitra and Daraa. These were accompanied by raids, searches, and the detention and interrogation of civilians, the establishment of temporary checkpoints, as well as earthmoving, fortification, and expansion of military infrastructure near the ceasefire line with the occupied Syrian Golan.

The last days of the month, particularly June 27, 28, and 29, saw rapid field developments that reflected an escalation in the nature of these movements. These included attempts to establish a new staging point on Al-Mughar Hill in the Yarmouk Basin, involving the deployment of snipers, the erection of tents, and field excavation works. These activities coincided with gunfire directed at protesters and civilians, and the creation of new checkpoints, all amid the absence of any official Syrian stance regarding these developments or clear measures aimed at protecting Syrian sovereignty and curbing the recurrence of such violations.

The province of Quneitra topped the list of areas experiencing Israeli incursions during the month, with movements concentrated in the towns and villages of Ain Ziwan, Al-Rafid, Sid al-Hanout, Sid al-Golan, Koudna, Al-Hamidiya, Um Batina, Ruhaeina, Al-Asha, Jabata al-Khashab, Ain al-Abd, Taranja, Al-Ajarf, Tell Abu Qubais, and Al-Mushaida.
