Sultanate of Oman Reaffirms Commitment to Freedom of Navigation at Sea in Accordance with International Law - Sarmad

Oman reaffirmed today, Friday, its firm commitment to freedom of maritime navigation in accordance with the principles of international law, during its participation in the proceedings of the 137th session of the Maritime Organization Council, currently held in London.

The Oman News Agency reported that this was stated in a statement presented by Khamis Al-Shamaikh, Deputy Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology for Omani Transport, who emphasized Oman’s dedication to the security and safety of international sea routes, the protection of human life, and ensuring the smooth flow of global trade.

According to the agency, the Omani delegation met on the sidelines of the session with Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization. The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation and continuous coordination between Oman and the international organization in the fields of maritime navigation security and safety, marine environmental protection, and strengthening response and coordination to address maritime challenges.
