Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a warning to the United States amid a fresh exchange of strikes between the two sides, affirming that any American attack would be met with a proportional response.
Qalibaf, who leads negotiations with the United States and is one of Iran’s most prominent and influential political figures, posted on the platform X: “If you strike, you will receive the strike.”
He added: “The United States has not yet learned that the policies of intimidation and broken promises are no longer cost-free.”
He stressed that “the Strait of Hormuz will not open except according to Iranian arrangements, not through American threats,” adding: “Do not flail about in vain, or you will sink even deeper.”
Qalibaf’s remarks came after a new wave of American strikes, following US President Donald Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that he believed the ceasefire had ended.
